Inspired by the amazing technologies that make music and art accessible to people at all levels of proficiency, talent and physical ability, this gallery will make you an instant artist and performer! Through the use of sensors, theatrical lighting, a tactile stimulation device and other innovations, you will have the opportunity to express yourself artistically by using gestures to hear, see and feel the energy of light and sound.

Video Ripple & Entry
As you enter the gallery you will walk over a virtual pool of water, your steps creating ripples of light and shadow. But the floor isn’t the only thing that will respond to your movements. Look around you and you will see the patterns on the wall follow you as you move through the entrance. Listen to the music and watch the light and shadow respond to your gestures and touches.

Gestural Groove
Everyone has a “rock star” in them! Find yours in our Gestural Groove exhibit. Create and play with music and light by yourself or with friends. Your movements and gestures will activate this exhibit, which is a multi-sensory instrument in itself! Sing, dance, and observe the colorful light that will respond to your movement. Feel the vibrations of music as you become your own work of art in this ‘sense’sational exhibit.

Sound Scene
Explore music and musical instruments from different cultures in the Sound Scene exhibit. Use touch and movement to play instruments that respond in surprising ways! Play the drums, bass guitar, and an array of horns and watch the projection of shapes, colors, and silhouettes on the walls respond to your movement and sound. Try out the bar that bends sound and a swirling organic shape that makes sound when stroked. You’ll be amazed.

Digital DJ  (sponsored by Clear Channel Radio)
Using a pushbutton sound sampling station and a music or voice “scratching” station, add music to an underlying rhythm track to create your very own harmonies.  But beat this:  you can then upload your works of musical art as your very own personalized ring tone to your cell phone.  Now that’s music to your ears!

Laser Light Show (sponsored by Clear Channel Radio)
Design and produce a delightful array of colorful lights from the sounds you create with your own voice.  You can even compare your voice – and the laser light show it creates – with that of well-known radio DJs that are featured monthly as special guests. Speak, sing, or just make noise:  the laser waveforms are made by the acoustic energy of the sounds.
