Featured Exhibit

Our bodies are a fascinating blend of unique traits and universally shared systems, both of which can be explored with the aid of modern science. Here you will use new technologies to examine the human body in action, discuss the effects of individual choices on ourselves and society and discover a wide range of what is considered “normal” health.

Chance and Choice Game
Enter our health café where you will find a comfortable and stimulating space to gather and discuss health-related choices and challenges we all face in our daily lives. Several “café” tables utilize large game-like playing boards and game pieces to take you through different scenarios that deal with real-life health situations. You will come away with a better understanding about how lifestyle choices can effect your personal health.

Muscle & Bones System in Motion
Explore your skeletal and muscular system in this interactive exhibit. Humans are more than skin and bones, and we’ll show you just how much more. Wiggle your finger, turn a doorknob, or even better, hop atop the bicycle in this exhibit and pedal away. Enjoy the discoveries you will make about the internal actions associated with movement in our everyday activities and how they affect our muscles, bones, and everything holding us together.

Staying Calm
How relaxed are you? Test your mental control in a game of Staying Calm. Strap on headbands with sensors that detect your brainwaves and control the ball in a game designed so that the calmest player wins! Onlookers can watch your brainwaves on a screen or watch to see who’s controlling the ball the best. They can even do their best to break the concentration of the players, so beware and stay calm!

Doppler Stethoscope
The sounds of your body are amplified in sometimes startling ways in the Doppler Stethoscope exhibit. Use the stethoscope to search for your internal organs and compare the sounds of each as you investigate. Did you know that the sound of our blood varies based on its route? As blood leaves the heart via the arteries, it moves in pulses but when it returns to the heart via veins, it flows smoothly, sounding more like a river. Take an audible glimpse of your heart beating, your lungs taking in air, and all the sounds of your body in action.
