UTC FIRST Robotics Regional Competition

Date: March 15 - March 17, 2007
Location: CT Convention Center

The FIRST Robotics Competition combines the excitement of sport with science and technology to create a unique varsity sport of the mind.

FIRST Robotics is a fascinating, real-world, professional experience and helps students see the value of education and careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded by inventor Dean Kamen, a member of the Connecticut Science Center’s Board of Trustees, to inspire an appreciation of science and technology in young people. Based in Manchester, N.H., the organization designs accessible, innovative programs to build self-confidence, knowledge and life skills while motivating young people to pursue opportunities in science, technology, and engineering.

FIRST provides robotics programs for students in grades K through 12, through the Robotics Competition and FIRST LEGO League, both program partners of the Connecticut Science Center. www.usfirst.org

New England FIRST, or NEFIRST, is a new non-profit organization working to facilitate the growing population of FIRST teams in the region, and to create new ways to bring fun, technological, and creative learning experiences to children within the community.

The New England Regional Competition is open to the public and is suitable for all ages. Please come out and see not only the competition, but the various demonstrations and activities planned throughout the event. Come and learn more about FIRST. It should be a great experience for all!

If you are interested in joining a team, starting a team, or helping one out, please look at the New England FIRST contacts page http://www.ctfirst.org/frc_events/index.html
