CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO,
NEW CONNECTICUT SCIENCE CENTER
ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP
(Hartford, CT) January 17, 2008 – Imagine creating your own sound beats using a music mixing station and then sending this new riff to your friends or uploading it for your cell phone ring tone? Or how about creating your own laser light show from the sounds – or songs – you create with your voice and comparing it with the laser show created by other visitors and even well-known radio DJs?
All this will be possible in the new Connecticut Science Center’s Chase Gallery Sight and Sound Experience, thanks to a new partnership between the Center and Clear Channel Radio, with properties of The River 105.9, Country 92.5, Kiss 95.7, FM 104one, and ESPN Radio AM 1410.
“We’re thrilled to be working with the Science Center,” said Steve Honeycomb, market manager for Clear Channel Radio in Hartford. “There’s a science behind what we do to bring our listeners the music they enjoy, and thanks to this partnership we have the opportunity to marry two great experiences.”
The partnership also includes special opportunities for Clear Channel listeners in the Hartford, New Haven and Springfield markets, such as ticket giveaways and intimate concerts with musicians in the Science Center’s theater. Listeners on various stations will also learn about science through weekly Science Minutes.
“The exhibit experience at the Connecticut Science Center extends beyond our building and into each of our visitor's own worlds,” added Theodore S. Sergi, the Center’s President. “Our goal is to bring science to life and to show how it is present in our every day lives. Music is one such avenue!”
The commitment from Clear Channel Radio brings the Science Center’s capital campaign fundraising goal to within $6.1 million of the total $150 million investment.
