Theater Manager
Job Purpose:
Oversees all technical, operational and programmatic aspects of the 3-D and domed theatres
Reporting to:
Vice President of Programs
Key Responsibilities:
Program Design & Implementation:
- Coordinate with School Program staff to link show with CT curriculum standards and help support promotion of the shows to school districts
- Coordinate with Development and Marketing departments on the selection of shows for the theatres and work with marketing to support promotion of shows
- Manage the CSC’s two theatre spaces including a 200 seat, 30 x 40’ screen 3-D digital theatre and a 24’ domed theatre including;
- Supervise and schedule projection, program staff and ushers,
- Develop and track theatre budgets,
- Prepare program and evaluation reports,
- Manage the inventory of theatre-related equipment and materials,
- Other administrative duties as necessary
- Serve as a CSC liaison to the large screen format and digital theatre vendors and coordinate with the Finance Department to negotiate contracts for shows
- Develop and manage a maintenance plan for the theatres
- Coordinate with the Visitor Services department on ticketing for the theatres
- Serve as liaison with the large screen format and digital media professional theatre and planetarium associations
- Other duties as deemed necessary
Experience: Bachelor’s Degree, minimum of 3 years of previous experience managing theatre operations for a science center or museum, technical knowledge of digital projection and audio systems
Characteristics: Good organizational skills, demonstrated ability to manage staff and budgets, desire to work as part of a larger program and exhibits team, strong communication and presentation skills
Additional Requirements: Flexible schedule and ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Workplace Environment: Includes work within the Centers theatre spaces.
