Exhibit Planning

The Connecticut Science Center has drawn upon resources from near and far to create a truly unique and powerful experience with lasting educational impact. This process began under the leadership of Yale University president Richard Levin, a founding member of our Board of Trustees, who chaired the Center’s Program Committee as it worked to shape our priorities and approach through a years-long planning process. Working with museum consultants White Oak Associates, and the exhibit planning team of Jeff Kennedy Associates and Thinc Design, the Center’s planning staff has had the benefit of industry-leading experts, as well as many specialists throughout our community. Just as important, we have reached out directly to the rich diversity of people we will serve. Through an ongoing process of community meetings, focus groups, presentations, research and even informal conversations with our neighbors, we have worked to create a plan that sets a new standard in the field.

We have approached this project with an overarching framework that guides our exhibit and program development:

Science is always changing, as research reveals new evidence to support or refute prevailing theories and as new technologies extend our ability to understand the natural world in which we live. Science is relevant to our lives on personal, local, regional and global levels, and the more we understand the connections of those levels, the greater difference we can make in our communities and our world.
