President's message

Welcome to the Virtual Connecticut Science Center!  While our Center is under construction, we are proud to offer you a place to explore our project, discover plans for our exhibits, learn how to get involved and support the Center, and be inspired to participate in some of our pre-opening programs.

Visiting this website is a warm-up to our grand opening, when you will explore, discover, learn, and be inspired by hands-on science and technology inside our exhibit galleries, classrooms, laboratories, and theaters. We will even bring science to school districts all over Connecticut in moving classrooms that take students beyond their traditional coursework.

And we’re not even waiting until our doors open to start contributing to science learning in Connecticut. We have already begun helping teachers from all over the state learn better methods of teaching science through our GE Foundation Institute for Inquiry. You’ll continue to see us at statewide science events such as the Science Expo, the Connecticut Invention Convention, and the Connecticut Science Fair.

When you visit us online, you’ll find frequent updates on the status of our building’s construction, including web cameras that provide bird’s-eye views of the development.  You’ll have the opportunity to view prototypes of our exhibits and find out how you can help test them out. You can enter our AT&T Learning Connection, where teachers, students, school groups and families participate in science on-line and get information about programs. And, you’ll find ways to get involved with the Center – from job and volunteer opportunities to information on memberships and ways to support the Center financially.

We are proud to have raised over 95% of our fund raising goal, thanks to commitments from the State of Connecticut, our dedicated Board of Trustees, and generous donors who have partnered with us early on. However, we look to our community at large to help bring our project to fruition by supporting our exhibits, our programs, and the endowed funds that will help us ensure that the Center is always as cutting-edge and engaging as the day it opens.

Enjoy your up-close and behind the scenes interaction with the Connecticut Science Center.  We are hard at work building a world-class destination and educational resource for families and school groups alike. We welcome your feedback and involvement and look forward to seeing you at our grand opening.
