Field Trip/Content Workshops

Engineering Activities Added!

These workshops are opportunities for teachers to learn about the field trip programs offered at the Science Center and the pre and post-visit materials that are available for classroom use. These resources compliment the exhibit experiences and align with the Connecticut State Science Framework Standards.

STEM Unit Workshops for Grades 6-8

These two-day workshops will immerse participants in our newly developed STEM units. These units have been designed to be taught through the engineering model based on the new national science standards and also align with the current science standards.

Inquiry Teaching and Learning Workshop Series

We offer professional development in inquiry-based learning and teaching by providing a series of week-long immersion workshops, as well as an annual two-day follow-up conference. The Introduction to Inquiry Workshop, Classroom Application Workshop, Formative Assessment Workshop and the Annual Follow Up Conference constitute our Inquiry Teaching and Learning workshop series.

Physical Science Content Workshops

These are week-long workshops dealing with the underlying scientific principles behind the content standards in the CT Science Framework. Participants will be taught through the inquiry method. The goal of these workshops is to help participants deepen their understanding of these scientific principles through inquiry.

Integrating Science Workshops

These workshops will introduce participants to the ways science can be integrated with other subject areas.
