Join the Connecticut Science Center as we host a celebration to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission and the fantastic human achievement of landing on the moon. We’re taking you back to July 20, 1969, with technology on display from that decade provided by the New Britain Industrial Museum, LIVE music from Woodstock tribute band CJ West and the Downtown Train, an out-of-this-world balloon magic show with Jungle Jim, get hands-on with LIVE! Gallery Space Science, see the cinematic masterpiece Apollo 11: First Steps Edition in our theater, and don’t miss the newest addition to our Space Gallery – a Connecticut Flag that went into space and was donated by Astronaut Dan Burbank.

All activities are included FREE with a paid General Admission or Science Center Membership. Theater shows require an additional ticket.

This show is the premier tribute to the bands that graced the stage at Woodstock 1969! Relive moments that made rock and roll history, the sights, the sounds and the songs. The Who, Janis Joplin, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Jimi Hendrix, Melanie, The Grateful Dead and Santana to name a few. Anyone who was there…or wishes they had been, is going to love taking this TRIP on The Train with us!

The show will be presented outside on the plaza stage from 11AM-12PM and 12:30PM-1:30PM

JUNGLE JIM: BALLOONIVERSE

Jungle Jim is returning to the Science Center with his out-of-this-world stage show; Ballooniverse. This mesmerizing show combines space, science, and exploration with comedy, improvisation, magic, and balloons. Ballooniverse encourages audiences to explore the larger world around them through science and imagination. Featured in the program is a balloon lightsaber duel, rocket propulsion science and a galaxy-driven 6-foot balloon!

The show will be presented outside on the plaza stage at 12PM, 1:30PM, 2:30PM

APOLLO 11: FIRST STEPS EDITION

Audiences will experience one of humanity’s greatest achievements with Todd Douglas Miller’s Apollo 11: First Steps Edition. Crafted from a newly-discovered trove of never-before-seen 70mm footage and more than 11,000 hours of uncatalogued audio recordings, Apollo 11: First Steps Edition puts audiences at the center of NASA’s historic lunar landing.
