Reopening FAQ

Timed Tickets

Member tickets are FREE, but you are still required to reserve a timed ticket online. Members can only reserve $0 tickets equal to the level of their Membership size (4 person Membership = 4 $0 tickets). A reminder that the Caregiver add-on does not increase the size of your Membership. Additional guest tickets would need to be purchased at the regular price online in advance. All Memberships will be validated upon arrival. Members can reserve a timed ticket here.

Our most up to date pricing can be found here. Please note that all add-on experiences, Double Play, and Triple Play tickets are not available at this time. There is a 15% online discount on all regular priced General Admission tickets.

The employees of our Corporate Rewards partner companies will need a special link to buy tickets. Your company will provide a custom link to use to receive your benefits. If you are unsure if your company participates, you can check our list of companies that participate here. Please bring proof of employment with your timed ticket. If you require further assistance receiving your company’s custom link, please contact wgray@ctsciencecenter.org

If you already have a ticket or 100% off voucher, you do not need to reserve a timed ticket. Simply bring your ticket/voucher to the Science Center for entry. Any additional guests not covered by your ticket/voucher would need to purchase a timed ticket prior to arrival.

Discounts and coupons cannot be accepted at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience.

If you have a ticket with an expiration date March-June 2020, your ticket will be honored until December 31, 2020.

Membership Frequently Asked Questions

Members will be required to present their Timed Tickets, Membership card, and a photo ID upon arrival.

We are extending all Memberships by four months from your current expiration date. We are thankful for the support of our Members, and are committed to giving Members the full value of their Membership.

For many years, Mystic Aquarium and the Connecticut Science Center have been proud to offer reciprocal admission to their Members to enjoy each other's facilities during the month of March. During these unprecedented times, we were forced to cut that period short. Both organizations are committed to providing our members with the full value of their membership. We will be making an announcement about the reciprocal program in the future as we evaluate evolving public health guidelines and determine the best path forward. Please be sure that your email is on file with the Membership Office to receive the most up to date information about your Member benefits and special opportunities. Contact us at membership@ctsciencecenter.org

We are unable to print new cards at this time - please continue to use your current Membership card. If you do not currently have a card, you will receive one via email that you can print or save on your phone. Please present your Membership card and photo ID along with your timed ticket for entry.

The Butterfly Encounter experience is currently closed for now. Although the air is purified and it is a very clean environment, it will take us some time to get it ready for guests. If you have the Butterfly Membership add-on, please be assured that we are working on a solution to make sure you get the full value of your add-on experience. We’ll have more information when we announce the reopening date for Butterfly Encounter.

Safety at Play

Temperature checks before entry

  • All employees and visitors will walk through a thermal scanner (similar to what you see at an airport) prior to entry. It’s all touchless! The maximum temperature allowed for entry is 100.3.
  • Masks Required

  • A cloth face covering that covers your nose and mouth will be required for all employees and visitors ages 2+.
  • Maintaining Safe Social Distancing

  • In accordance with the recommendations by public health officials, we will re-open at a reduced capacity of about 30% to allow for proper social distancing.
  • Timed entry tickets will ensure a consistent flow for visitors and allow for ample amounts of personal space.
  • Our friendly staff is stationed throughout the museum monitoring the number of visitors in and out of our galleries and other public spaces. We are here to help make your experience safe and fun.
  • Signs and floor markers around our building will also encourage social distancing, hand washing, and other safe behavior.
  • The Science Center strives to maintain a clean facility and consistently receives high marks from our guests for the cleanliness of our exhibit spaces and restrooms. In the wake of the public health concerns around COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we have augmented cleaning protocols with a specific focus on areas and surfaces with frequent guest contact. Our “Clean Team” has been trained on best practices for preventing the spread of germs and viruses. In addition, our employees engage in frequent hand washing and encourage guests to do so as well.

Bringing our Robust Cleaning Practices to the Next Level

  • Our re-opening protocols include a larger cleaning crew – one for each gallery – to disinfect surfaces, exhibits, and “high touch” areas, like door handles and elevator buttons.
  • Disinfectant wipes and “dirty bins” are being provided for guests to wipe down exhibits and surfaces before and after use.
  • Our systems do not recirculate air and fresh air is constantly circulated in our building. Our environmental controls are carefully maintained with new air filters that were recently installed.
  • Restrooms are cleaned and disinfected frequently throughout the day.
  • The building undergoes a rigorous deep cleaning nightly with Ammonium Chloride disinfectant as recommended by the CDC.
  • In addition, we’ve installed 42 automatic flush units in restrooms, 12-Plexiglas safety shields, 10 Hand Sanitizing Stations at exhibit entrances, and 14 self-serve disinfecting stations for visitors to wipe down exhibits before and after use.
  • How We’re Protecting our Employees and You

  • Employees must wear face masks and may not report to work if they are sick. If you or anyone in your party is not feeling healthy, please stay at home. A touchless temperature check for all guests and employees is required. The temperature maximum for entry is 100.4.
  • The use of hand dryers in the restrooms and other areas will be temporarily suspended.
  • Some experiences will be temporarily unavailable. This includes the Theater, many experiences in the Forces in Motion Gallery, and high-touch experiences in other galleries.
  • Some of the smaller harder to clean hands-on components, like building bricks and golf balls, have been temporarily removed.
  • The Connecticut Science Center has completed self-certification for reopening under the CT Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD).

  • We are smiling under our masks and can’t wait to see you in person! We are in close communication with public health officials and are working within guidelines to support all activities to protect public health and restore Connecticut’s quality life. Visitors who choose to visit the Connecticut Science Center during this time should be aware of the potential risks, including increased risk for those ages 65+. The Connecticut Science Center reserves the right to deny access to any non-compliant guest.

Please note: You must have a ticket when you arrive. Guests without a ticket will be encouraged to purchase tickets online and return. We also ask that you stay in your vehicle until the start time of your timed-ticket reservation. Guests are also welcome to wait outside on the Science Center Plaza.
