Planning your field trip is simple with our straightforward pricing and flexible policies tailored to accommodate groups of all sizes. School groups enjoy a special discounted admission rate of just $16 per person, with optional add-ons, including movies, live stage shows, and convenient lunch accommodations. To help you prepare for a smooth and successful visit, please review our guidelines on group size, chaperone ratios, payment details, and cancellation procedures. Field Trip Pricing

Start with your Field Trip, and then customize your experience with exciting add-ons designed to enhance your students’ day of discovery, offering options to fit any budget. These engaging experiences provide deeper learning opportunities and unforgettable moments your students will love!

Discovery Center Programs
Add a 45-minute exploration laboratory program to your trip where students are active participants, performing investigations and learning how science is a part of their own everyday experiences. Each lab aligns with the Next Generation Science Standards.

Butterfly Encounter Lab
Add a 20-minute Butterfly Encounter Program to your trip experience, where you can join free-flying butterflies at the most glorious stage of their fascinating lifecycle in a tropical greenhouse as a group.

Field Trip
Take advantage of our special group rate—just $16 per student. To support a safe and enriching visit, one chaperone receives free admission for every 20 paid students. Additional chaperones are welcome at the same discounted rate of $16 per person when booked together.

Stage Shows
Take learning even further with our dynamic live stage shows! These larger-than-life performances combine energetic, facilitator-led demonstrations with stunning videos and animations on the big screen. Each show delivers unforgettable moments of scientific discovery.

Movies
Our movies transport students into captivating worlds, offering a unique way to explore the science that shapes our everyday lives—all carefully selected to align with curriculum standards and enhance classroom learning. Some films are offered in 3D.

Booking Information

When you're ready to book your trip, simply submit a reservation request using the form linked below. Your field trip will be confirmed once you receive a confirmation email from us, which will include your invoice and a detailed itinerary for the day.

Payment Policies

Full payment for your field trip is due in advance of your trip. We accept organizational checks and credit cards. If you need to make alternate payment arrangements, please contact the Reservations Center at (860) 520-2150. 

Headcount changes must be made 5 business days in advance of your visit, and refunds will not be issued for overpayments. The Science Center and Corporate memberships cannot be used for group attendees.

Canceling or Rescheduling

If you must cancel or reschedule your field trip, please call the reservation center at least one week in advance. We will work with you to find a new date that accommodates your group. If you will be late, or have a same-day emergency cancellation, you must call the Reservations Hotline at (860) 520-2151.


Inclement Weather

In the case of an impending weather event (such as a blizzard, hurricane, etc.), please contact us to provide alternate dates that you are able to attend in the case of a school delay or closing. If your organization officially closes or you are unable to attend for other weather-related reasons, we will reschedule you to one of your selected dates if available. Please contact us as soon as possible if you think you will have a delay or closing – the best way to reach us is through email: reservations@CTScienceCenter.org.

Additional Information

Behavior & Conduct

  • An 8:1 student to chaperone ratio is required for groups bringing grades K-7, and a 12:1 ratio is required for groups bringing grades 8-12.
     
  • Chaperones must be at least 16 years of age.
     
  • Educators and chaperones are expected to provide supervision for their students at all times, as well as assisting them with appropriate behavior and educational interactions with exhibits.
     
  • Students are expected to adhere to their school’s or organization’s code of conduct while visiting the Science Center.

Trip Adjustments

  • Please notify the Reservation Center about additional attendees as soon as possible to check if your group is able to attend all activities.
     
  • Last-minute additions of any attendees must pay together in one transaction with your group — capacity for additional attendees in your scheduled activities is subject to availability.
