  • Tickets & Planning Your Visit

    What is Plan-Ahead Pricing?

Plan-Ahead Pricing means that ticket prices vary by day and are typically lower when purchased earlier. This system helps guests plan their visits to the Connecticut Science Center in advance while potentially saving money.

    Why do prices change?

Ticket prices reflect expected attendance. Prices tend to be lower on weekdays or days when fewer guests are expected and higher on weekends or during peak periods.

How can I find the lowest prices?

Check the Connecticut Science Center’s online ticketing page early for the widest selection of dates and prices. The earlier you buy, the more you can save.

Do members need to worry about plan-ahead pricing?

Connecticut Science Center members don’t need to worry—membership pricing and benefits are not affected by plan-ahead pricing. However, if you plan to bring additional guests, we recommend purchasing their tickets in advance to get the best available price.

Do I have to visit on the date I buy a ticket for?

Yes. Tickets are only valid for the date selected at the time of purchase. Make sure to plan accordingly.

What if I need to change my ticket date?

You have the freedom to change the date of your visit after purchasing tickets. Should you select a new date or time with a higher admission cost, you will simply need to pay the difference. No refunds will be issued if you exchange for a less expensive visit date and time.

What if the price for my visit date goes down after I purchase?

Prices may increase closer to your visit date. They will never go down, though they may start below current general admission prices. That is why it is always best to plan a visit further in advance so that you will have the greatest opportunity to save.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

Yes, but ticket prices at the door reflect the same Plan-Ahead Pricing and may be higher or limited based on availability. Online purchase in advance is always recommended.

When can I use my tickets?

Tickets are only valid for use on the date purchased. Tickets are valid for the entire day of your visit, regardless of the timeslot selected.

Can I upgrade my general admission tickets to a membership?

You can apply the value of your general admission tickets toward the cost of a membership on the same day as your visit. The number of tickets applied must not exceed the number of individuals included on the membership level (e.g., you can trade-in up to four tickets towards a 4-Person Membership).

Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?

We strongly recommend purchasing your tickets online ahead of time to guarantee admission on your preferred date and enjoy faster, smoother entry when you arrive. This is especially important during weekends, holidays, and school vacation weeks. Members can reserve their free tickets in advance through their online accounts.

Can I arrive at any time during my visit?

Yes! Your ticket is good for the entire day—you can come and go as you like during operating hours.

What if the date I want to visit says “sold out”?

If a date is marked “SOLD OUT,” we’ve reached our capacity for that day. Please choose another day for your visit.

What are your current hours and prices?

Hours and pricing can vary. For the most accurate info, visit our Hours and Pricing page.

Do you have additional locations or are you affiliated with any other children's museums in Connecticut?

No, we only have one location in downtown Hartford and welcome visitors of all ages.

  • Comfort, Safety & Accessibility

What safety and cleaning measures are in place?

We use high-efficiency air filters with 20–30% outdoor air circulation and regularly sanitize high-touch surfaces. Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout.

    Do you offer touchless features?

Yes—sinks, paper towel dispensers, toilets, and hand sanitizer stations are touch-free.

Are you accessible for guests with disabilities?

Absolutely. Our facility is fully accessible and includes features like wheelchairs (first-come, first-served) and assistive listening devices in the theater.

    Do you offer sensory-friendly experiences?

Yes! We host Sensory Friendly Days throughout the year with adjusted lighting and sound for a more comfortable experience.

    What is your weapons policy?

For everyone’s safety, weapons of any kind—including concealed firearms—are prohibited on the premises. This policy applies to all guests, staff, and contractors, regardless of license. *Law-enforcement officers with proper ID are exempt from the weapons policy.*

Definitely! Our KidSpace gallery is specially designed for our littlest explorers, ages 7 and under, providing a safe and stimulating space just for them. Connecticut Science Center members enjoy reciprocal admission through the ASTC Passport Program, granting free or reduced-price admission to hundreds of museums and science centers nationwide—just be sure the location is 90+ miles from both your home and the Connecticut Science Center. Members also receive special regional reciprocal perks throughout the year, more details on those can be found on the Member Benefits page.

  • Photos, Media, Guest Policies & Feedback

Can I take photos or videos?

Visitors are welcome to take photos and videos of their experience for personal, non-commercial use. We simply ask that all photography and videography be conducted safely, respectfully, and without disrupting the experience of other guests.

What about commercial filming or influencer content?

Any commercial photography, filming, or videography—including content intended for marketing, advertising, publication, influencer collaborations, or brand partnerships—requires advance written permission from the Connecticut Science Center’s Marketing and Communications Department. Please submit requests well in advance of your visit.

Will I be photographed or filmed during my visit?

It’s always possible. By purchasing or using a general admission ticket, membership, or reciprocal admission benefit, you irrevocably grant the Connecticut Science Center the right to photograph, record, or otherwise capture your image, likeness, and/or voice while on its premises, and to use such media in any and all forms for promotional, commercial, or other lawful purposes, in perpetuity and without the need for further notice, consent, or compensation.
