Happy Memorial Day! Thank you for joining us again for Movie Monday. Today we are excited to share the two hour NOVA special Black Hole Apocalypse. Black holes are holes in the fabric of the universe where gravity is so powerful not even light can escape. Once believed to be the stuff of science fiction, black holes are now confirmed to exist and Janna Levin is our host on a trip to some of the better known black holes across the universe. Janna Levin is a theoretical cosmologist as well as professor of physics and astronomy at Barnard College. Black Hole Apocalypse will unravel cosmic mysteries surrounding the birth of black holes as well as how astrophysicists have observed the stars to gather information about phenomena thousands of light-years away. Black Hole Apocalypse even details the wonky time we would experience near a black hole and the gruesome spaghettification which would occur if we fell into the extreme gravitational pull of the black hole. This documentary answers major questions about black holes while expanding the viewers imagination as we consider the immensity of space and our place in it.
