We are so excited to welcome everyone back into the Butterfly Encounter. This beautiful, lively, tropical environment will have you forgetting you are in the middle of Hartford, CT. Our Butterfly Encounter is run by a team of dedicated individuals under the direction of our Horticulturist and Butterfly Encounter Manager, Kimberly Kelly. Today, one of our Teen Innovations participants interviews Kim to learn more about horticulture as a career. What does Kim do every day? How did she get interested in horticulture? What is horticulture? All those questions and more can be answered by watching the full video below.
Once you have finished watching, it’s your turn to be a horticulturist. We have also included a fun activity you can try at home, using something you may already have at home- beans.
Teen Innovation at the Connecticut Science Center provides youth, primarily from under-resourced communities in Connecticut, with opportunities to develop problem-solving skills, gain confidence, and explore STEM career and college pathways. Teen Innovation Ambassadors spend six weeks over the summer creating original programs and exhibits that teach others about STEM.
