In honor of our new traveling exhibit Forrest of Illusions, Mark Dixon learns how our brains trick us when viewing two overlapping patterns. Aoife Ryle takes one simple pattern, such as circles or lines, and slowly overlaps them. The patterns are printed on a transparent plastic sheet, allowing an optical illusion to occur. But what is an optical illusion without an audience?
