Science Sunday: Optical Illusions

In honor of our new traveling exhibit Forrest of Illusions, Mark Dixon learns how our brains trick us when viewing two overlapping patterns. Aoife Ryle takes one simple pattern, such as circles or lines, and slowly overlaps them. The patterns are printed on a transparent plastic sheet, allowing an optical illusion to occur. But what is an optical illusion without an audience? Watch the whole video to see the many patterns Aoife Ryle experiments with and learn more about how and when these illusions apply to your daily life.

There is so much more Science Sunday to explore. Check out the full gallery of segments on our blog: https://ctsciencecenter.org/blog_categories/science-sunday/.
